ABOUT US

Lert Info was launched in November 2012 after a lot of mulling over what could be done in the event of another Christchurch-earthquake-like emergency.
The concept had been offered to the Government some years back but they couldn't see the potential.

Civil Defence produced a report that effectively put it in the "too-hard basket" in terms of cost and the difficulty of sending txts to specific locations.

Ashley – Research/networking
"My energies go into researching systems, tools, information and networking with people who can help us. Whatever information is needed I can usually find it. Over Lert's lifetime, several people I have come to know have helped us greatly, for which we are extremely grateful."
Derek – Programming/design
"From the beginning I could see the need for this service, particularly for big, sudden emergencies. I've been responsible for building the system from the ground up as nothing fitted with what we wanted to achieve. Normally there is a team to write such a system, but we just make do with what we've got."
Stuart – Operations/media
"I'm chief cook and bottle washer, and manage/run the daily operations: comms, admin and weather info interpretation - crucial during weather events. I'm very customer-focused, having been in marketing for 35 years. Looking for ways to improve the member experience yet maintain a flexible back-room operation is very stimulating and satifying."

Collectively, we three work extremely well as a team and our diversity is a strength we use to improve the service for members all the time.
